Annapurna Circuit Trek

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is among the world’s longest and most popular treks (despite the new jeep road). Circling the great Annapurna range, the trail works its way from the Marshyangdi to the Kali Gandhi valley, crossing the 5416m Thorang-La pass. It is a hazardous crossing; the pass, often snowy and usually very windy, is the highest point on the trek. The pass apart, the trek is not very demanding, despite its great length. The trails are mostly bridle path and rarely very steep.

Annapurna Circuit Trek Highlights: Crossing the Thorung La Pass (5416m); The Pilgrimage town of Muktinath; Views of the Dhaulagiri ice - fall; The worlds deepest gorge in the Kali Gandaki river; Hot Spring at Tatopani; and Sunrise and mountains views from Poon Hill.

How difficult is Annapurna Circuit Trek?

It is a moderate trek so if you are an experienced trekkers who can walk about 5-6 hours a day, it shouldn't be an issue for you but if you are novice trekkers, it might be an issue as it is a long trek with Thorang-La pass. And also the difficulty in Annapurna Circuit Trek also depends on how fit you are, how strong mentally, also what time of year you trek.

When is the best time for Annapurna Circuit Trek

The best time for Annapurna Circuit trek is autumn (September to November) and spring (March-May) but also note that those periods are busiest season too. Anyway, the weather during the autumn and spring is just perfect, the skies are clear and we can enjoy the spectacular view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks. Planning Annapurna circuit trek during the winter is not the best idea as the Thorung-La pass often closed due to snow.
